"Quirky, irreverent and laugh-out-loud hilarious, Rhonda Nelson speaks my language!" --New York Times bestselling author Vicki Lewis Thompson

Vintage Rhonda Nelson! Though Rhonda is known more recently for her sexy, romantic comedies she began her career writing funny, heart-warming romance for Kensington's Precious Gems line. The books were only sold in Wal-Mart and spent less than a month on the shelves. Now, thanks to the wonderful world of digital publishing, they're available again.

Runaway bride Louisa Honeycut is looking for a quick escape when she passes the Double Dare, Inc sign and the slogan "Are you ready for the time of your life?" seems like divine intervention. Sheltered by her overbearing father, Louisa has years of catching up to do and can think of no better person than gorgeous Sam Rawlins to show her. Is she ready for the time of her life? Hell, yes.

Ordinarily unflappable adventure guide Sam Rawlins makes his living showing the wealthy how to have fun, but nothing in his experience could have prepared him for the "adventure" Louisa Honeycut asks for. He might be showing Louisa the time of her life, but the quirky little snack-cake heiress is soon turning Sam's own life upside down...and perversely, he likes the new vantage point.

Are you ready for the time of your life?" the slogan for Double Dare, Inc., read and Louisa Honeycutt, running from her wedding and her over-protective father felt as if it had been sent just for her. Always the dutiful daughter and over sheltered,
Lou now felt ready to grow up and show her overbearing father that she was mature enough to make her own decisions and none of those decisions included marrying for the sake of a business merger!

Sam Rawlings has a dream and that is start his own magazine but until that dream comes true he is happy to guide people on their self planned adventures. He has specific rules like no mingling with the client, definitely no romantic involvements and a strict no-no to any cases where there is even a slight risk of damage to his reputation and business! But all these rules that he has always followed are soon forgotten when he meets and agrees to escort Lou on her own adventure. Estimating her to be an easy to please client proves the biggest mistake for him and Sam is soon shown a different side of Lou. Instead of guiding Lou on the adventure of her life he finds himself in an adventure of his own. Despite all warning signals, he is enamored by her and sparks fly between them.

But would his love be enough to keep Lou in his life?
Would she truly be able to leave all her wealth and her father to be with him?
Or when her adventure was complete, would she simply go back and play the part of a dutiful daughter?

Rhonda Nelson spins an entertaining tale in her book, Double Dare. A light and breezy romance, I loved the simple yet crisp style of writing with just the right mix of humor, wit and seriousness. The character of Lou and Sam are well developed and their chemistry is sensual. I also enjoyed the character of Jaynes, Lou's driver who though he is a spy for her father but still has a soft spot for her and helps Lou in escaping from her father.

A great leisure read and an enjoyable time pass, I give Double Dare a 4 out of 5. If you love interesting and light romances then this is the book for you. :)

Double Dare edition by Rhonda Nelson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I was happily reading along knowing the outcome and anticipating the next move and then I got to the part where they came to the cop and the way out of it was to say she has a mental illness. That she is unstable and suffers with Tourettes Syndrome, particularly copropilia. Copropilia affects less than 10% of those with Tourettes Syndrome. You lost many stars because I was offended by the inappropriate use of a disorder that affects my sons everyday and sometimes controls their lives. If an author is going to use a particular disorder, NOT a mental illness, the least they could do is research it and make sure they use it in an appropriate manner so people aren't offended. As a parent of 2 children with a very misunderstood disorder, my children and I fight this everyday and authors that do this do NOT help. I not only will not recommend this book, I will spread the word that it isn't a good book to read.
I really enjoyed reading this romance novella! It was a quick, fun little book about the journey of a runaway bride and the owner of an adventure guide company, whom she choses to take her on an adventure just to get out of town! They both immediately appreciate the other's good looks, but of course, they keep these thoughts tucked safely away inside their own heads. Along their travels, they fall in love, but never tell each other! Then, she has to cut the trip short, and return home to face the wrath of her father...
I don't want to give away the ending to the story, so you'll just have to read it for yourselves!

Double Dare sucks you into the adventure of Lou from page one. If a sexy, fun, fast-paced love story is what you're craving, then this is the one for you. The story is a quick read, but in a good way. The author doesn't skimp on the action or the romance. The chemistry between Lou and Sam wasn't forced. It came naturally and that's always a plus in a romance.

My only complaints were the amount of typos. The misspelling and incorrect word usage kept tossing me out of a well-written story. 'Same' instead of 'Sam'. 'He' instead of 'her'. Those and the fact that Sam used "Aw, hell..." a little bit too much. The expression kind of lost its oomph along the way. This is why I gave Double Dare four stars instead of five.

I'd highly recommend this story if you're a fan of the steamy romance genre. It'll push all the right buttons for you. Honest.
It has some potential. The idea of the story is cute, but I have forced myself to read the first half and can NOT manage another word. And that is just sad considering it is such a short story.
The descriptives are either entirely too descriptive (mundane, long), or detail is skipped over making the rest of the story lack.
The overly-underly sexed characters also pull away from the story. I get this is a romance, but nothing harlequin about it. Stick em in a room and let em paw each other. The over "build-up" is boring.
Putting the bad story-telling aside, OMG who was the editor???? He/she needs to reimburse Nelson for services NOT rendered. The typos, the miscued punctuation, the missed words, the repeat words/phrases (the the, her her - among many) are very distracting. I have to stop reading with the flow, and figure out what was intended, or go back and see if I missed something somewhere. I feel like the story was voice-typed and never read through, or worse, self-edited. Our own mistakes in our writing are generally harder to find.
This may sound harsh, but when a natural editor attempts to read through a story like this, it becomes a headache; more of a job than a joy.
I am so glad this was a free book, otherwise, I'd be sending the author a bill for reading (and editing) the book.
There are many free books on , and I've read several. I've enjoyed most of them, and many have prompted me to purchase other books by the same author (Jana DeLeon and Stephanie Bond are wonderful examples). I believe that's the purpose of free books. Nelson won't be getting any of my business.
