The author has an incredible ability to build characters that have such depth you can't help but feel their happiness, heartache, desire, and despair. Once you get lost in the world of blackthorn you may never find your way out and nothing will ever be the same. No one escapes unscathed.

This first book introduces you into blackthorn with two characters that are haunted by the past, each needing to use the other to accomplish their goals. Simple revenge isn't enough for Kane Malloy. No, He plans to make those responsible for his sisters death suffer a fate, worse than death. Caitlyn, will risk her life, career and heart to find out what happened to her parents so she can prevent it from happening to her. It's paranormal romance psychological warfare at its best and you will be left loving every page turning minute of it. Be prepared to love, hate, despise and crave the characters in this series.

This is a dark series and Lindsey isn't afraid to take you to ugly places or to push boundaries. The emotional ride that you experience as a reader isn't something that I have had with other authors and its was a fresh change.

This is not your average vampire meets girl love story, this is not a centuries old vampire that behaves like a teen, Kane is a very demanding, Machiavellic Master vampire, he does not suffer fools and has a very well thought endgame. Don't get me wrong this makes him Amazingly attractive, because he is a complex and a very lonely being. Caitlin is a workaholic lonely investigator, that only has one thing in sight and will not change her path. They meet and it's a battle of wills and lust.
I didn't award it 5 stars because of the somewhat brief world building information, I do believe we need a bit more than "they came out and bargained to their convenience "
Said that, I will be purchasing the series.
I found this series while perusing in search of a new arsenal of books to read. Boy was I NOT disappointed with my findings.

As a fan of J. Ward and L. Adrian and as a paranormal writer myself, I am always on the lookout for something fresh, creative and more importantly, well written.

Ms. Pryor nails all three of my reading requirements and how.

Blackthorn is the poorest of the districts in a dystopian world where humans rule and the "third species" i.e. vampires, lycans and low-life humans have been relegated to a pitiful existence and are clamoring for a revolution. Throw in a prophecy that tells of human reign being overthrown by the species and you've got an intriguing backdrop for a well-told story.

Blood Shadows introduces agent Caitlin Parish whose past propels her towards her future as she hunts the one vampire who can help unravel the mystery surrounding her parents' death and her own impending doom.

Kane Malloy, the elusive Master Vampire, manages to thwart agent Parish and the Vampire Control Unit's every attempt at capture but has plans to draw out his enemies with the help of the lovely agent.

Determined to find Kane, Caitlin succeeds, bringing her face to face with the Master Vampire. Unbeknownst to Caitlin, arresting him is a calculated measure in Kane's well thought out plot to take down his enemies. He draws Caitlin in, letting her believe she has the upper hand but it's all a farce in his grand plan to use her to his advantage.

And Caitlin isn't prepared for what happens next. Neither of them are. In her moment of glory as the first agent to ever bring Kane in, attraction explodes between the hunter and the hunted, adding tension to the story from the get go.

Herein begins Caitlin and Kane's saga, an unraveling of a story superbly intertwined with a mayhem of secrets that only get more captivating and complicated as we find the two trying to fight their attraction while out besting the other to reach their individual goals.

Through an elaborate web of twists and turns, Caitlin learns of a horrible betrayal that changes everything she's ever believed about Kane.

Caitlin quickly realizes Kane isn't simply a means to an end, but someone she may be able to trust and help fight the demons that threaten her very existence, bringing us to a potent climax, setting the stage for the second book in the series.

As compelling as the story was of Caitlin and Kane, Ms. Pryor's writing style swept me in. She has a literary approach to telling a fantastical story and I absolutely applaud her for that. Ms. Pryor has become one of my all time favorite writers because she has managed to build a world that is full of intriguing characters while doing it was panache. She avoids what I call "grunge" language and draws you in with intelligent writing.

If you love vampires and are in search of a new series, let me suggest you immediately purchase all three of Ms. Pryor's Blackthorn books. You won't regret it.

Being that im a hopeless romantic/ extremely sexual, vampire obsessed woman lol this book is right up my alley! Read the book in a day and I need a Kane in my life ASAP!!! But till then I'm on to he next! Caleb baby... turn me on.....
Wow! I don't think I've ever read a book that has been so intense before. The feel of impending doom and the male character's very dark side really kept me on the edge of my seat. There were times it was actually difficult for me to read. It keep me guessing if things were going to turn out well for the characters. This is not a fluffy vampire romance book. I'm serious when say through the majority of the book you feel a sense of doom surround the female character. It was very well written and hard to put down. Highly recommend.
I was looking for a series like the Black Dagger Brotherhood. This series shows promise. It started very slowly but by the end I couldn't put it down. Kane was hard to like at first but still very hot and sexy. Caitlin wins your heart from the very beginning. She has every right to play the poor pity me victim instead she is strong and brave. I really love BDB I hope this series will fill the void. I am hopeful.
